Pedal Brief is free to read. It pays for itself (eventually, we hope) through affiliate links. This page explains what that means and what we promise in return.

The short version

Pedal Brief may earn a commission if you buy through links in an issue or on this site. The price you pay stays the same. We only link to merchants on our allowlist, and coverage is our own editorial judgment. If something is paid placement, it will say Sponsored.

Affiliate relationships

Some links we share are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the merchant may pay us a small commission. You don't pay extra for this.

We intend to apply to the following programs. As of the date above, we have not joined any of them yet, and we will update this page when that changes:

We keep a merchant allowlist. We don't insert affiliate links for merchants we haven't reviewed and approved.

Editorial independence

Unless an item is labeled Sponsored or Paid partnership, commission rates don't decide whether we cover a product. We will call something "not a deal" when the discount is cosmetic. We will criticize products from merchants we earn from. If that costs us a commission now and then, fine.

We don't test every product in-house. Most items are curated and summarized from official sources and reputable coverage, and we say so and credit the source.

Amazon Associates

If and when we are accepted into the Amazon Associates program: Pedal Brief will then be a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program (and/or the Amazon EU or UK Associates programs, as applicable), an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon properties. As an Amazon Associate we would earn from qualifying purchases.

Free products and paid coverage

If we ever receive free products, discounts beyond ordinary affiliate terms, or payment for coverage, we will disclose that connection in the item itself, not buried at the bottom.

For readers in the EU and UK

Commercial intent should always be identifiable. Affiliate links are introduced with clear commission language, and every issue that contains them carries a disclosure near the top. We don't dress paid content up as spontaneous opinion.

Prices

Prices, discounts and stock change, sometimes within hours. Where we quote a price we aim to note when we checked it, and example prices are labeled as examples. Currency, VAT and shipping vary by where you live. Check the merchant's page before you buy.

Tracking and your data

Affiliate links can involve click tracking by the network or merchant (for example Impact, CJ or Amazon). Our email provider also measures opens and clicks. See the privacy policy for what we collect and your rights.
