Who we are
Pedal Brief is an independent newsletter run from Denmark. For the purposes of the GDPR, Pedal Brief is the data controller for subscriber data. Contact: hello@pedalbrief.com.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you subscribe.
- Optional preferences, if you fill in the short survey after signing up: bike type, devices, budget band, indoor setup, deal appetite, shipping region, and anything you type in the free-text box. All of it is optional.
- Basic signup details that our email provider records automatically, such as the signup date and that you came from pedalbrief.com.
- Email engagement. Our email provider records whether an issue was opened and which links were clicked. This helps us see what's useful and cut what isn't.
This website doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies.
What we use it for
Only to send you Pedal Brief and to tailor what's in it (for example, fewer trainer deals if you told us you ride outdoors only). We don't sell your data, rent it, or hand it to advertisers.
Our legal basis is your consent, which you give by subscribing and can withdraw at any time.
Where it's stored
Subscriber data is stored with beehiiv, the email provider we use to send the newsletter. beehiiv processes it on our behalf and may store it in the United States, under safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. The website itself is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles the page requests and may keep short-lived technical logs (like IP addresses) for security.
How long we keep it
As long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you. If you ask us to delete your data, we remove it from beehiiv.
Unsubscribing and deletion
- Unsubscribe any time with the link at the bottom of every email. One click, no guilt trip.
- Delete everything: email hello@pedalbrief.com from the address you subscribed with and we'll delete your data, usually within a few days and always within 30.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or get a copy of it. Write to hello@pedalbrief.com. If you think we've handled your data badly, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet) or the authority where you live, though we'd appreciate the chance to fix it first.
Affiliate links
When you click an affiliate link, the merchant or affiliate network may set its own cookies to track the purchase. That happens on their site and falls under their privacy policy. More on how affiliate links work on our disclosures page.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll say so in the newsletter.
